anotace
A new permanent exhibition entitled On the Stage of the World was opened in the Uherský Brod Museum in 2022, on the occasion of the 430th anniversary of the birth of Comenius.
Europe of the 16th and 17th centuries was going through a turbulent period characterized by the progress of human knowledge but also by the latent conflict of political and religious interests. As a result of the Thirty Years' War and subsequent religious persecution, he was forced to leave his country and found himself set on the stage of the world. Eventually, he became a respected scholar,
prolific author, and representative of Bohemian exiles. Comenius excelled in many fields, especially as a reformer of education and of teaching methods. His main aim, though, was the universal improvement of all things human, from knowledge, to religion, to politics.
Through his life and work, we can better understand the history of the early modern period and reflect on timeless issues that are still relevant for the humanity. The catalogue chronologically traces Comenius' life journey, describes the crisis in society at the time and presents Comenius' extensive work and the means by which he wanted to find a way to a better world.
