Tato publikace byla vydána jako katalog k výstavě Králové majáles. Studenstké slavnosti v československu 1945-1990. Jejím hlavním tématem je majálesová tradice a její proměny se zaměřením na období po druhé světové válce, kdy dostala výrazně politické konotace. Studentské slavnosti odrážely povahu a promny politických režimů, nálady ve společnosti a míru emancipace studenstkého hnutí, které sehrálo důležitou roli v mnoha historických zlomech.

This publication has been conceived as a catalogue for the exhibition The Kings of Majáles. Student Festivities in Czechoslovakia 1945-1990. Its main topic is the tradition of Majáles and its transformations, with a special focus on the period after the Second World War, when it took on distinctly political conotations. Student festivals refelcted the nature and changes of political regimes, the atmosphere in society and the degree of emancipation of the student movement, which played an imortant role in many historical breaking points.
